PHILADELPHIA, 21 December 2003 — Teenage rookie LeBron James scored 36 points, including five three-pointers, to help the Cleveland Cavaliers end a 34-game road losing streak with an 88-81 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday.

The Cavaliers last won on their travels in Seattle Jan. 12 but James made sure the team avoided the second longest road-losing skid in NBA history.

Sacramento’s 43-game streak in the 1990-91 and 1991-92 seasons is the longest of all-time. New Jersey had a 34-game skid in the 1989-90 and 1990-91 seasons.

James, 18, came within one point of his career-best total. He also had four rebounds and five assists as Cleveland won for the first time in four games overall.

The 76ers, still without Allen Iverson, have also dropped three of their last four games. Glenn Robinson picked up 18 points and Derrick Coleman 15 for Philadelphia (13-13).

Magic 119 Warriors 93

In Orlando, Tracy McGrady collected 29 points and 12 assists to hand the Magic a 119-93 win over the Golden State Warriors.

Drew Gooden notched 25 points and 13 rebounds while Rod Strickland chipped in with 11 points and 12 assists for the Magic, who have won three of their last four games. Clifford Robinson had a team-high 19 points for the Warriors, who had six players in double figures but failed to land a third straight win.

In Toronto, Vince Carter piled up 18 points, including 10 in overtime, as the Raptors defeated the New York Knicks 105-99. Jalen Rose scored 21 points while Donyell Marshall had 15 points and 19 rebounds to help the Raptors halt a four-game losing streak.

In East Rutherford, Kenyon Martin grabbed 22 points and 14 rebounds to guide the New Jersey Nets to a 97-87 victory over the Washington Wizards.

Richard Jefferson scored 18 points while Jason Kidd added 10 points and 11 assists. It was the sixth win in seven games for the Nets. Jarvis Hayes had 22 points and Larry Hughes 17 for Washington, which lost for the fifth time in six games.

In Atlanta, Peja Stojakovic amassed 31 points as the Sacramento Kings cruised past the Hawks 98-86. Brad Miller counted 17 points and 12 rebounds while Bobby Jackson added 15 points as the Kings picked up their sixth win in seven games. Jason Terry put up 25 points and Shareef Abdur-Rahim totaled 21 points and 10 rebounds for the Hawks, who suffered a sixth straight loss.

In Boston, Matt Harpring recorded 21 points and 11 rebounds as the Utah Jazz edged the Celtics 99-96.

DeShawn Stevenson scored 22 points, including 16 in the opening quarter, and Andrei Kirilenko 18 to give the Jazz their first win in three games. Paul Pierce had 19 points but could not prevent the Celtics losing for the second time in three games.

In Memphis, Mike Miller’s 18 points pushed the Grizzlies to a 97-83 win over the Miami Heat. Lorenzen Wright counted 14 points and Pau Gasol 13 as Memphis chalked up its third win in four games. Dwyane Wade had a team-high 21 points for the Heat, who lost for the second game in a row after four straight wins.

In Indianapolis, Ron Artest contributed 22 points as the Indiana Pacers rallied to an 80-75 victory over the Detroit Pistons.

In Seattle, Tim Duncan totaled 27 points and 20 rebounds to steer the San Antonio Spurs to their ninth consecutive win, an 87-73 decision over the SuperSonics.

Tony Parker added 16 points and Manu Ginobili chipped in with 14 for the Spurs, who are on their longest winning streak since going 10 straight in 2001-02.
