JEDDAH, 25 July 2004 — Al Sorayai Carpets got into the win column at the expense of Unilever as Amer Cargo posted its second win at the ongoing 3rd Seiko-14th PEBA Open Conference at the Industrial City area.
Starring trio of Bodoraya, Yumena and Macapia, Al-Sorayai controlled the second half to post a close 68-59 victory.
Bodoraya exploded with 16 points in the second half, to topscore with 19 points for Al Sorayai, while his teammates Macapia and Yumena added 10 each. Unilever’s Saludez, scored 21 points.
In the other game, Amer Cargo got away from Al Taqwah 67-65. With Avril Mabarit in the firing end, Amer Cargo proved steadier in the closing minutes of the ballgame. Gadingan, J. Mabarit and E. Mabarit, complemented Avril’s scoring with double figures. Nader of Al-Taqwah, burned the hoops with 20 points, including a couple of treys but his team could not match the intensity of Amer Cargo.
In the last game, Al Hamra took out Saudi Glass 63-41. In a balanced attack, Al-Hamra started hot in the first half 35-17. It was easy going for Al Hamra in the second half, as Saudi Glass groped for form.
High scorer was Bulay who netted 12 points. Macavili, Aguinaldo and Bandaying scored nine each. De Luna of Saudi Glass hit 10.
The games of the tournament are played every Thursday and Friday at the COCG basketball court. The Basketball Official’s Group (BOG) of Jun Lansang is officiating the games.
