ABHA, 25 August 2004 — Morocco’s Al-Rajaa Club won the Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Cup beating America Ducali of Colombia 2-1 in the final of the 8th International Friendship Soccer Tournament here last night.
Asir Governor Prince Khaled Al-Faisal presented the glittering cup to the captain of the Moroccan team, which also received gold medals as well as a cash award of SR1 million.
Team members of Ducali received silver medals and a cash award of SR500,000 while third place winners Al-Ittihad of Jeddah and South African Jomo Cosmos got bronze medals and SR100,000 each. Cosmos won the fair play award while Nazer Hameed of Rajaa was picked the best player of the tournament. Saudi Arabian Airlines gave away both the awards.
Keane Recalled to Ireland Squad
In Dublin, Tottenham Hotspur striker Robbie Keane was recalled to the Ireland squad yesterday for their opening two World Cup qualifying matches next month. Agency adds
Keane, who injured his ankle in a pre-season friendly, was named in a 24-strong squad to face Cyprus in Dublin on Sept. 4 and Switzerland in Basel four days later.
The 24-year-old is one goal away from equaling Niall Quinn’s all-time Irish scoring record of 21 goals.
