JEDDAH, 17 February 2005 — They are the “best-of-the-best.” And they deserve the accolade after winning their club’s speech contest held recently in Jeddah.
The winners are Aiman Al-Harby, and Nori Guerra, Humorous Speech; Willy Araza, and Marwan Dashash, Evaluation; Umar Abdulsalam and Marah Fuentes for Table Topics, and Henry Cabansag and Aiman Al-Harby for International Speech, from Tanglaw Toastmasters Club.
The other winners, from PSME Toastmasters Club are Roger Gonzales and Jun Lacsado; Humorous Speech, Ernie Cala and Art De Leon, Evaluation; Raul Sienes and Demetrio Torres, Table Topics; and Art De Leon and Pete Entico, International Speech.
These toastmasters will have the enviable task of representing their respective clubs to the next level of competition — the area contest — slated late this month and early next month in Jeddah.
Winners from Tanglaw Toastmasters Club will compete against PACE, Al-Sharm, and ALJ Toastmasters Club for supremacy in the Area 11 on Feb. 25, at the Sofitel Al-Hamra Hotel. The best of PSME Toastmasters Club will be competing against PACE and Jeddah Toastmasters Club during their Area 24 contest on May 5 at the same venue.
Tanglaw lists Dashash as its alternate speaker in the Table Topics and International Speech categories. Winners of the contest will compete in the division competition to be held in Jeddah on May 12. The next contest will be the district contest to be held in Jordan. Winners of the district competition will have the chance to compete against the best of the districts in an international competition in the United States of America.
