RIYADH, 26 February 2005 — The International Indian School in Riyadh (IIS-Riyadh) held its annual “Food & Fun Fair” recently to raise funds to support the education of children from low-income families..
Indian Ambassador M.O.H. Farouk was the chief guest at the event which aimed to help 400 poor families whose children — numbering some 1,000 — are studying at the school. Undeterred by the cold and windy weather, over 10,000 Indian expatriates attended the event which sought to raise SR200,000, the same amount as last year.
The fair featured many stalls providing a wide variety of food, grocery and electronic items, clothes, books, computer software, herbal medicine, airline and banking services, and entertainment.
Al-Hokair Group provided a fun land with a range of rides and games. There was also a unique stall set up by the Osmania University Old Boys Association.
