DAMASCUS, 1 March 2005 — Brig. Rustom Ghazaleh, head of the Syrian Intelligence Forces in Lebanon, will soon be replaced by Brig. Munir Jal’oud, a leading Syrian electronic newspaper said.

The newspaper, Champress, quoting “unofficial security sources,” said Ghazaleh will be replaced soon after he had received harsh criticism from Lebanese opposition and media sections for his handling of security affairs in Lebanon. It added that Ghazaleh was also criticized by some Syrian officials and circles. The newspaper said it failed to get confirmation of the report from official sources.
