Intel is making available new educational software for the Arab world called Intel School Learning Software. This is free, downloadable software aimed at broadening the potential for learning by providing educational resources for such subjects as chemistry, physics and biology on a 24/7 basis both at home and in schools. Intel School Learning Software’s Arabic demonstration version comprises eight hours of interactive training including Intel PC Basics Software, a beginner’s guide to using the PC, and six science lessons.
Intel School Learning Software Arabic also provides the user with a comprehensive study guide — from memory techniques to exam preparation. There is also a Further Resources Guide, giving the student useful web addresses to enhance their education. As with other European governments, Intel hopes to work with the education authorities in the Middle East to develop a full-fledged curriculum compliant version of the Intel School Learning Software to be made available free of charge on Intel-based computers around the region.
Win4Lin Delivers Windows 2000 and Windows XP on Linux
Win4Lin, Inc. has released their Win4Lin Pro product which runs Windows 2000 and Windows XP applications on Linux. Also available is Win4Lin Home, a lightweight version of Win4Lin 9X that provides the standalone or home user with the ability to run needed Windows applications on Linux.
