MAKKAH, 3 March 2005 — A 90-year-old groom and his 60-year-old bride were reportedly forced by a marriage official here to undergo a premarital medical test. According to Al-Watan newspaper when the elderly couple went to the Makkah general hospital to take the test hospital employees greeted them with utter disbelief. They told the couple that there was no need for them to take the test as the woman was too old to conceive and have babies. However, the staff carried out the test upon the couple’s insistence, baby or no baby. The results proved them to be healthy and without any diseases.
