MADINAH, 4 March 2005 — Al-Safi Club for friends of the environment has completed its eighth environmental awareness campaign, which took place in Al-Beda national park, 20 kilometers north of Madinah.
More than 700 volunteers participated in the program collecting more than 3 tons of garbage. Muhammad Al-Sarhan, general manager of the club, said that the campaign was successful and it was in continuation of previous successful campaigns by the club.
He called for more private companies to be involved in the campaign on the kingdom level so they could spread the message about environmental awareness. Al-Sarhan said that the level of success of the campaign is evident from the number of volunteers who participated.
