TRIVANDRUM, 4 March 2005 — India’s first exclusive zone for nanotechnologyis to be set up here with the support of Kerala government and Non-Resident Indians. The Kerala Cabinet cleared the project last week. The government is implementing the five-billion-rupee Nanotech City in association with the city-based Institute of Advanced Research (IAR) promoted by nanotech scientists, Dr. V. S. Ajith Kumar and Dr. Arun Kumar.
The duo shot into fame after developing the revolutionary nanogeneseq chip, a hi-tech DNA optimizing and protein sequencing chip system for genetic horoscope that would bring down health care expenses drastically.
The Nanotech City would be the first exclusive nanotech hub for research and development related to nanomedicine, nanosensors, nanosurgery, nanofuels, nanomaterials and advanced biotechnology. “We are targeting one percent of the global market within three years,” the doctors told reporters here.
