PUNE, 8 March 2005 — Former federal deputy prime minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Lal Krishan Advani welcomed the imposition of president’s rule in Bihar and said that it would give relief to the people of the state.
Stressing that ignorance cannot be termed as defense, Advani asked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to take personal interest in Bihar and to ensure that impartial and upright officers are appointed as advisers of Bihar Governor Buta Singh. Speaking to Arab News after addressing a public rally, Advani said that the prime minister having worked in the government for several years, is aware of many honest and upright officials who have adequate knowledge of the constitution and governance.
“Unless impartial advisers were appointed to implement the president’s rule in letter and spirit” Lalu Yadav would continue with his misrule he said.
Commenting on the President’s rule, the BJP president said that it would be nice for the people and give them some relief from hooliganism, provided it is implemented without prejudices.
