JEDDAH, 10 March 2005 — The Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah yesterday urged Filipino organizations in the Western Region to sound off and be included in the mission’s updated list.

Consul General Pendosina N. Lomondot said the process is very easy and and all an organization has to do is to submit the following information:

• Name of organization.

• Names of incumbent officers, and ros-ter of active members, if possible.

• Postal address (if any), e-mail address, telephone numbers, and mobile numbers of officers.

• Objectives of the organization.

• Previous and future program of ac-tivities.

• Copy of constitution and by-laws.

Lomondot said that the updated list would be incorporated “in the registry of organizations duly recognized by the consulate.”

Philippine missions abroad collect records of community organizations as one way of tracking Filipino Workers for easy mobilization in case of emergencies, such as wars and calamities that require evacuations.

Community groups have also functioned as the extension arm of Philippine embassies or consulates, especially in Saudi Arabia where many Filipinos are working in places far from the embassy in Riyadh or the consulate in Jeddah.
