RIYADH, 13 March 2005 — A court hearing a divorce case witnessed a public auction of sorts when the husband and wife started haggling over what each would pay the other to settle the case, Al-Watan newspaper reported. After 20 years of marriage, the wife asked for a divorce from her jealous husband. The judge ordered the wife to return the dowry money to the husband. The husband objected and said he would pay her SR100,000 if she agreed to live with him forgetting the idea of a divorce. The wife refused the bait and won the case.
