RIYADH, 17 March 2005 — Students, parents and staff of the local Middle East International School have contributed SR 50,259 toward the Sri Lankan tsunami victims. “The collection was organized in an effort to make the children and staff aware of being part of the global village,” said Principal Tabassum Farooqi. The collection was handed over to a representative of NESI, a non-governmental organization registered in Sri Lanka. The Polish Embassy here has also raised a fund toward the Sri Lankan tsunami victims at its recent orchestra evening held in the capital. Ibrahim Sahib Ansar, who recently left the Kingdom at the end of his term as Sri Lanka’s ambassador, recently presented a check for SR500,000 to the island state’s Foreign Ministry.
