MANAMA, 19 March 2005 — A 26-year-old Saudi who tried to escape from an accident scene got killed in Manama yesterday morning in another accident while being chased by the victim of the first accident.
Naeef Jassim Al-Safyan was pronounced dead on the spot after his car collided with a tractor-trailer and hit a traffic signpost on Sheikh Khalifa ibn Salman Highway in the Seef district of Manama.
Eight firemen freed him from the wreck within five minutes of being trapped, but paramedics pronounced him dead after he sustained severe head injuries.
Al-Safyan was being chased by a Bangladeshi driver and his co-worker after he rear-ended their company pickup in Bab Al-Bahrain area, less than five kilometers from the accident scene, and fled.
According to the pickup driver Al-Safyan collided with the trailer that veered into the intersection when he tried to run the red light.
