Doom3, a third addition and a remake of the classic Doom series, is one of the most anticipated games of 2004. Developed by ID software, Doom3 places the player in the boots of a space marine appointed by Union Aerospace Corporation (UAC) only to confront a mysterious problem plaguing the Mars research facility unacquainted of the unfettered hell… Hell on Mars. In this review we’ll take a look at the graphics, sounds, multiplayer and gameplay.
Graphics: Doom3 graphics are breathtaking. The developers did a wonderful job with every single detail which resulted in smooth crisp graphics, dazzling environment and architecture, amazing lighting and shadow effects wonderfully constructed cutscenes and marvelously detailed characters. The graphics are the best seen up to date.

Sounds: Sounds are one of the top features of Doom3. Sound and music set up jointly in a perfect harmony to create one of the most evil and terrifying atmosphere ever seen in games history. The sound of weapons, marines carrying for help, objects been shattered and whispering voices all are perfectly put together.

Mutiplayer: Although the multiplayer feature in Doom3 is pretty restricted with 5 multiplayer maps and 4 player limit, it’s still full of challenges and excitement. The multiplayer mode contains 4 modes: Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Last Man Standing and Tournament.

Gameplay: Doom3 contains total of 27 levels which are played on four difficulty levels Recruit, Marine, Veteran and Nightmare. The storyline is uncovered gradually through loads of scripted events and a new feature, The PDA. Player will be able to download security clearances, read email, listen to voice recordings, and discover key codes to unlock hidden compartments from various PDA’s belonging to employees of UAC. The AI is practically straightforward which refreshes the classic Doom series style.

To finish off, Doom3 is technically and artistically a master piece. The incredible graphics sounds and gameplay insures a solid first person shooter game. Doom3 is highly recommended to fans of doom and genre.
