JEDDAH, 23 March 2005 — Officials at an election center were surprised when Abdullah Al-Asmari, 82, showed up the other day to register himself as a voter. He was one week too late for the electoral process. He explained that he couldn’t report in time because of illness. The officials expressed their helplessness and apologized to him for not obliging him, Al-Madinah reported. The Kingdom’s landmark municipal elections for the Western Region are scheduled to be held on April 21.
