On the occasion of the great independence and National Day, I convey my heartiest greetings and congratulations to my countrymen and all Bangladeshis living abroad.
On this solemn day, I respectfully recollect the architect of Bangladeshi Nationalism Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman who declared the war of independence and gave directions to the nation at its critical time. He also took part in the war face to face for long, nine months. Through this sanguinary war of liberation, Bangladesh achieved its independence. The nation will always remember Shaheed Zia for the declaration of independence and his contribution to liberation war, I pay my deep respect to the martyrs of liberation war and pray for the salvation of their soul, I congratulate the valiant freedom fighters. Their utmost sacrifice and unmatched valor are written in golden letters in the history of the country.
Three decades are not a long time for independent and sovereign Bangladesh. However, by this time, we have established a sustainable system of development with a view to fulfilling the basic human rights of the people through ensuring a steady economic and administrative system and parliamentary democracy, rights of speech and expression, education and health system. Besides, our achievements in poverty alleviation efforts and economic development are being followed as a model in various countries in the world. To consolidate these achievements and to continue the trend of development and progress, national unity is an imperative.
I think it is a duty and responsibility of every citizen to highlight the achievements and uphold the image of the country in the world. I urge upon all to extend their cooperation in the welfare oriented efforts and initiatives of the government aimed at expanding education in all levels, carrying out economic activities and developing social environment. I believe, better life and welfare of the people will be ensured through such efforts.
On this auspicious day of the nation I call upon all Bangladeshis, living home and abroad, to work unitedly putting aside all hatred and malice to lead the country ahead.
