JEDDAH, 5 April 2005 — DHL Saudi Arabia has appointed Ghada Al-Edreesy as customer service manager. She is the first Saudi woman to join DHL, the world’s leading logistics solutions provider. The appointment comes as part of DHL’s continuous efforts to support the Saudization drive, which focuses on incorporating more nationals into the work force.
Having commenced her duties since the beginning of January, Al-Edreesy’s role as physical channels manager is to supervise, monitor and maintain the quality of service that DHL provides to over 70 towns and cities in the Kingdom.
Announcing the new appointment, David Wilson, general manager, DHL Saudi Arabia said: “I would like to welcome Ghada Al-Edreesy as the first Saudi female customer service manager and actually the first woman to join our team in the Kingdom.”
Al-Edreesy’s vast experience in various fields of travel, tourism and marketing makes her an ideal candidate for the position, he said. Al-Edreesy, who has a bachelor’s degree in computer science, previously worked at Saudi Aramco where she participated in many national and international economic forums.
Referring to the role played by Saudi women in the labor market, Al-Edreesy said, “Saudi women have the ambition and willingness to interact with Saudi society and play a key role in order to open the door of opportunities for every woman in the Kingdom.”
She added: “I look forward to the challenges that will come along with my new position and would try to set an example to encourage more Saudi women to play an integral role in both public and private sector in the Kingdom and to reach managerial positions as we have a lot to offer.”
