JEDDAH, 7 April 2005 — Poor Pakistani expatriates, especially those with medical problems, can look forward to help from a new organization being established here. The announcement about the new body was made at a reception hosted in honor of Pakistani Consul General Masood Akhtar and Javed Akhtar, minister at the Pakistani Consulate.
The consul general, who was felicitated on his recovery from a recent illness, thanked the community for being supportive during his ailment. He welcomed the idea of starting a new organization mentioned by Mohammed Mumtaz Akhtar Kahloon, a Pakistani businessman, in his opening remarks and said the new body would become operational as soon as all legal matters were cleared.
The consul general said he would allocate two rooms for the purpose. “These will be consultation rooms for doctors on Thursdays and Fridays,” he said.
The idea of the new body was also greeted by Pakistani scholar Maulana Habeeb-ur Rehaman. He narrated a couple of hadiths related to helping the poor and needy, especially those in health. The gathering offered to contribute generously toward making the new organization a success.
