JEDDAH, 13 April 2005 — A fire broke out at the Jeddah Municipality in the early hours of Monday. According to an official from the Jeddah fire department, the fire was the result of arson.
Speaking to Arab News, a fire department official said, “A one gallon gas container was found near the burned area which measured 10m by 5m. The gas container indicates an act of arson.”
The fire broke out at 1:13 a.m. Monday morning. It destroyed land grant documents and according to the fire department official, that destruction could be the motive for the fire. The Fire Department rushed to the scene at record time and put out the fire an hour later.
No suspects have been detained but police investigations are under way.
