The experience and expertise of Schneider Electric in LV switchboards has created another milestone in the world of electricity by introducing Prisma Plus, an innovative product with 10 years of advance technology. George Barbarin, vice president of the company’s business development and marketing division, presided the launch ceremony in Alkhobar and Jeddah recently. Mohammad Mowffaq Oreijah, a young Saudi engineer who joined Schneider Electric Jeddah last year, opened the seminar in Jeddah. Shankar Shetty, activity manager of Prisma, presented the seminar. Organizers included Laurent Belle-Perat, Ajay Verma, Rasheedur Rahman, and a team of engineers from the Jeddah branch. In Jeddah, over 345 engineers from ministries, municipalities, SEC, SWCC, electrical contractors, consultants, industries, and panel builders appreciated the new range of products that was displayed alongside the seminar. The range included units of innovated Prisma Plus, low voltage breakers, and wiring devices. The next seminar of Prisma Plus is scheduled in Madinah on April 25.
SGHG
The Saudi German Hospitals Group has topped the list of hospitals in the Middle East-Gulf region in terms of health care services, patient satisfaction, and facilities including medical instruments and equipments in a detailed study published in the March 2005 issue of Gulf Marketing. Commenting on the accomplishment, SGHG President Sobhi Batterjee said that such studies would generate a fair competition among health care service providers and boost their efforts in the right direction. He emphasized that the group was progressing toward achieving its target of building 30 hospitals and creating 50,000 job opportunities by the end of 2015 across all Arab and Islamic countries.

DHL
DHL has announced that it will play an imperative role in the introduction of a GCC-wide system of digitalized e-clearance that will allow shipments to be cleared through customs within seconds. The Deutsche Post World Net subsidiary revealed that it had agreed to partner Dubai Customs in implementing the pilot program that would lead to the full-blown GCC system. The Dubai project is expected to lead to full e-clearance in the Emirate within the next 18 months and the possibility that shipments could be cleared even before they enter port. “We’re in the process of helping to adapt the system to the needs of all the GCC countries. Progress has been extremely promising,” DHL’s Middle East Director Phil Couchman said.

Giordano
Festive colors of red and green will play an important role in Giordano’s “winter look” this season, with hints of silver and glitter to add flourish. The season also calls for some dressing-up, with a more sophisticated and dramatic look. The season must-have will be the trench coat, which Giordano offers in varying styles and lengths, such as a women’s hood trench knit coat or a corduroy double breasted trench. For men there is a twill trench coat, or alternately a utilitarian jacket in a reversible and convertible nylon/fleece combination. Meanwhile, in keeping pace with new fabric technology, Giordano has upgraded the basic Polo T-shirt to feature its patented “dry tech” application. Dry tech is a moisture management fabric, keeping the wearer dry inside through cotton and polyester that combines for breathable, quick dry and sweat-free fabric. “The dry Polo is a basic must-have, which is available in 24 new colors including sunshine, yellow, carnation red, jade green, and sky blue along with the basic colors white, black, desert, true red and navy,” Naomi Kasad, head of buying at Giordano Middle East, said.
