DUBAI, 17 April 2005 — Dubai Industrial City (DIC) has completed the master plan for the city that will spread across 560 million square feet of prime land and house manufacturing zones, a dedicated industrial growth fund and an international engineering academy, a dedicated logistics zone and a sprawling commercial area.
Additionally, commercial developments such as residential communities and retail developments with high-rise towers, piers and promenades will also be undertaken. The entire development will be artistically landscaped along the canal.
“Our objective is simple. We aim to develop a project that will add value to all — to the UAE, to the people who work, live and do business with Dubai Industrial City. Our association with the mother company, Dubai Holding, will provide us with synergies in creating something that is unique,” said Mohammed Al-Gergawi, chief executive of Dubai Holding.
“The master planning process is completed. Additionally, we have identified and finalized the site for the headquarters of Dubai Industrial City as well as for the first set of office buildings. We hope to have the waterfront development to be ready in the near future,” Al-Gergawi said. “We are encouraged to note that our efforts have been welcomed warmly by the local, regional and international entrepreneurial and investor community. The tremendous response has encouraged us to redouble our efforts to bring the Dubai Industrial City to fruition as quickly as is possible,” he added.
“The message of value addition is not restricted to just the industrial activity that will take place at Dubai Industrial City. It will extend to the lifestyle of those who will live and work there. And, the centerpiece of our development will be the Canal, around which we shall build a community that will be a benchmark model for all,” Al-Gergawi stated.
