BEIRUT, 20 April 2005 — Algerian singer Fula has returned to Beirut after being away for some time, in order to shoot her upcoming music video “Ahel Al Maghna”, which is the title of her latest album. Filming of the clip will take place in Tripoli north of Lebanon over a period of three days under the direction of Adel Sarhan, marking their first cooperative foray.
According to the London based Elaph, Fula had completed her album and submitted it to Rotana, her production company, but the release has been delayed due to the tragic conditions that hit Lebanon in the past few months with the assassination of former Premier Rafik Hariri. Rotana has set Thursday as the release date for the album, which features a variety of songs sung in the Lebanese, Egyptian and Algerian accents.
Meanwhile, a Lebanese judge has reduced the sentence for Fula, who was charged with writing a check for $700 to her hairdresser without having a bank balance.
Fula’s original sentence was to serve a three-month jail term and a fine of one million Lebanese Liras. The new sentence is a fine of 200,000 Lebanese Liras. The sentence was reduced because the hairdresser had dropped charges against the singer.
