JEDDAH, 26 April 2005 — Dar Al-Hekma College held a two-day familiarization program for high school students in order to acquaint them with the courses conducted at the prestigious institution.
Students from many public and private schools in Jeddah, including Dar Al-Fikr, Baity Al-Sagheer and Alam Al-Sighar, participated in the program which concluded on Sunday.
“Currently, Dar Al-Hekma has more than 600 students on its rolls. Six subjects are offered for graduate studies. A one-year preparatory course is also conducted to improve the students’ English language skills and ability at logical thinking,” said Dr. Samira Al-Qurashi, dean of the college.
The six majors on offer are: Management Information System (MIS), Interior Design, Graphic Design, Nursing, Banking and Finance and Special Education.
According to the dean, Dar Al-Hekma is recognized internationally for its programs and curricula. It participates in many conferences and symposiums to popularize its educational programs, she added.
“Dar Al-Hekma offers full and partial scholarships according to the economic conditions of students and within the constraints of the college itself,” Dr. Al-Qurashi told Arab News.
The event featured separate makeshift booths for every graduate course offered at the college.
Each booth conducted a competition for the visitors and many students walked away with mobile phones and watches they got as gifts in a lucky draw.
Many of the students who attended the event are expected to join the college once they finish school.
