RIYADH, 26 April 2005 — A 20-member delegation, headed by Trevor Mallard, New Zealand’s minister of education, will arrive here today on a two-day visit to promote bilateral cooperation.
During the visit Mallard will meet with his Saudi counterpart Dr. Abdullah Bin-Obaid, Minister of Higher Education Dr. Khaled Al-Anqari and the governor of General Organization for Technical and Vocational Training.
The delegation will visit King Saud University and Riyadh Teachers’ College to explore the possibilities of further cooperation in education.
“Our cooperation has shown a healthy trend during the recent years and the number of Saudi students in our institutions has risen to around 70,” said an official source at the New Zealand Embassy, adding that they were being trained mainly in the fields of medicine, dentistry and pharmacy. The visiting minister will also speak about the latest changes in his country’s education policy to facilitate students from Saudi Arabia, the source said.
