JEDDAH, 28 April 2005 — Dr. Abdullah Omar Naseef, deputy chairman of the King Abdul Aziz National Dialogue Center, has urged Muslims and people of other faiths to work together for the welfare and protection of humanity.
Addressing a seminar on “Development in an Islamic Perspective” at King Fahd Hospital auditorium here Friday, Naseef also called upon Muslims to make Islam a program of action to resolve the social, economic and other problems of modern world.
Naseef emphasized human brotherhood. “We are sons and daughters of one father and mother, Adam and Eve, we have to coexist, helping and respecting one another. We cannot imagine that the whole world will follow one religion,” he added.
Naseef, former deputy chairman of the Shoura Council, said God created people in different colors and races not to fight each other but to work together for the betterment of humanity. “We started from two persons and we are brothers in humanity. We can do many things together if we can develop this human brotherhood through academic programs at our schools and universities,” he explained. The Islamic Education Foundation (IEF) in Alhamrah sponsored the seminar, which was held to mark the state conference of Solidarity Youth Movement in Kerala, an affiliate of Jamaat-e-Islami.
Ismail Abu Taleb, a senior IEF official, explained Islamic teachings to achieve balanced development. Moosa Kutty presided over the seminar while Abdussubhan presented a paper on the topic. Dr. Shanavas spoke on exploitations in the health sector, Jose Puvathingal spoke on comprehensive development of Kerala. Professor Abdul Ali, principal of Al-Noor International School, gave a speech on better utilization of money earned from the Gulf and P.K. Niaz, a journalist from Malayalam News, spoke on Solidarity conference theme “A Correction for Development for the Sake of Nature and Humanity.”
