When hobby and experience are joined together in work, then the outcome will be unique. Two Saudi men, Aysar Kayyal and Abdul Rahman Bakhashwain, have proved this. Both are specialists in making wedding stands and accessories that are of vital importance for celebrating weddings. The stand is called “kousha” in Arabic, there is no exact English equivalent but several are pictured with this article.
Abdul Rahman said, “The idea took root when I was in America. I found out that decorating a house does not mean only choosing furniture. There are other things that are also a part of the decor — accessories for example — and if used correctly, they add a fine touch to the overall impression. While I was there, I became interested and I went to a number of exhibitions specializing in decoration and accessories. When I got back to Saudi Arabia, I got in touch with my friend, Aysar, who is a specialist in wedding decorations. We collected our ideas and ambitions and came up with the idea of wedding preparations and so we were the first Saudis to enter this field.”
What do you think of women’s taste?
Women by nature have a sense of beauty. Many Saudi women are aware of the art of decorating, whether from general knowledge or because they have been to international exhibitions. To satisfy these women requires a lot of effort and hard work. We are dealing with international designers in the field of accessories.
Aysar Kayyal said, “We work to make the wedding a special time that every girl dreams of and which will stay in our memory. We import accessories from Germany, Belgium, Holland and Italy. The cost of making a wedding stand ranges from SR5,000 to SR1,000,000. We spare no effort to make the wedding stand (kousha) unique and we use the best and most beautiful accessories. Over the past seven months, we have made the dreams of many Saudi girls come true and done our best to give them a night to be remembered forever.”
