JEDDAH, 2 May 2005 — A woman school director in Taif finally got the seal she sought after a 26-year wait, but it did not get her stamp of approval. She had requested the directorate of education for a stamp for official purposes in a letter she sent in 1980. All she got was silence till yesterday when the reply to that letter landed on her desk. The reply not only caught her by surprise but also left her amused. The Al-Madinah Arabic daily reported the school director said she had given up hope of getting the official seal when no reply was forthcoming to her request. She then designed a stamp herself and used it during the last 26 years. What really amused her was that the request was made at her appointment as director and the reply arrived just when she is getting ready to retire from service. A classic case of better late than never.
