AMMAN, 4 May 2005 — Jordanian shares plummeted 3.66 percent yesterday in a major profit-taking move that started on Monday and pushed down the all-share price index of the Amman Stock Exchange by about five percent in two days of trading, ASE dealers said.
The slippage started with a sell-off of the heavyweight Arab Bank share, which fell by the total allowed daily change of five percent on Tuesday, closing at 41.65 dinars ($58.8) down from 43.84 dinars ($61.92) on Monday, they added.
The ASE benchmark price crashed the 6500-point psychological barrier and closed at 6,472 points, compared with Monday’s close at 6,718 points, according to the ASE daily report.
