DAMMAM, 4 May 2005 — Prince Muhammad ibn Fahd, governor of the Eastern Province, will inaugurate the first Saudi Mega Projects Conference on May 7 at the Eastern Province Chamber of Commerce and Industry (EPCCI).
The conference, organized by the EPCCI in cooperation with the UK-based CWC Associates, will focus largely on investment opportunities in the future projects of Saudi Aramco, SABIC, Maaden, Saudi Electricity Company, Marafiq, Saline Water Conversion Corporation, Royal Commission for Jubail & Yanbu and the Saudi Railways Organization.
Abdulrahman Rashed Al-Rashed, president, EPCCI, said that the conference will open up an opportunity for an exchange of views between projects owners and private sector contractors, materials suppliers and engineering films. He added that this conference is one of numerous initiatives undertaken by the EPCCI to accelerate the growth of industrial activities in the Eastern Province which is now considered as the “Industrial Capital of the Gulf.”
The Mega Projects Conference will deal with a number issues which include the challenges and opportunities inherent in financing downstream energy projects in Saudi Arabia; the growth of the petrochemicals industry; expansion plans and new business development opportunities; the current role and future plans of major Saudi companies; Saudi Arabia’s 20-year electricity and water plan; mineral policy and investment opportunities in the oil and gas industries.
Al-Rashed observed that the conference will play a key role attracting foreign investments to the Kingdom. A large number of senior executives from leading companies in the public and private sectors both here and abroad are slated to attend.
