JEDDAH, 5 May 2005 — Interior Ministry spokesman Brig. Gen. Mansour Al-Turki has been promoted to the rank of lieutenant general, press reports said yesterday.
Brig. Gen. Al-Turki has become a well-known face in the media after his constant interaction with journalists covering security matters, especially the Kingdom’s successful campaign against terrorists linked to the Al-Qaeda network.
Brig. Gen. Al-Turki, who is also director of the Haj affairs department in the directorate of public security, has held different posts in public security. He was appointed spokesman of the Interior Ministry for security affairs last year. The general thanked Interior Minister Prince Naif for promoting him to the new rank.
