BHOPAL, 10 December 2005 — Stung by the alleged comparisons with Monica Bedi, underworld don Abu Salem’s girlfriend, made by Madhya Pradesh unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organizational secretary Kaptan Singh Solanki, former state Chief Minister Uma Bharati has written a letter to former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee and party President L.K. Advani demanding action against Solanki.
However, Solanki has denied having made any comparison between Uma and Monica. In the letter, Uma stated that Solanki should have kept in mind Monica Bedi’s activities. She said that when party General Secretary Pramod Mahajan had spoken of Congress President Sonia Gandhi and White House intern Monica Lewinsky in the same manner, Vajpayee and Advani had apologized to her.
Uma also attacked Mahajan for calling her a closed chapter for the BJP.
