JEDDAH, 17 December 2005 — Alhaj Husein Alireza, a prominent Jeddah businessman, died yesterday morning at the age of 75. He was buried in Ummana Hawa Graveyard here after funeral prayers at Juffali Mosque. A large number of people attended the funeral.
Sheikh Husein is survived by his wife Laila, two sons — Ali and Khaled — and daughter Hala.
Sheikh Husein acquired his early education at Victoria College in Egypt. He later went to the University of California at Berkeley, where he completed his studies.
His company, Haji Husein Alireza Co. Ltd., was ranked 37th in the Top 100 Saudi Companies for the year 2005.
As a leading Jeddah businessman, Sheikh Husein played a big role in bringing major international companies to the Kingdom and building the country’s economy.
He was a former board member of Saudi Arabian Airlines.
Sheikh Husein was described by many of his friends as a philanthropist who loved to help people. He loved sports and was a good tennis player. He also loved fishing and hunting.
Condolences will be received at Sheikh Alireza’s residence situated on Hail Street in front of the palace of Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal, beginning today.
