RIYADH, 24 December 2005 — Some 400 Saudi youths unable to pay for education programs received free job trainings through a Saudi non-profit organization this year, said a representative of the organization.
“Saudis belonging to both sexes benefited from the institution’s services in the previous year,” said Tamam Al-Saanud, a woman volunteer at the Saudi Charity Institution for Training and Education Programs (SCITE). “The youths managed to enroll in different sectors, such as marketing, tourism, computer sciences, English and secretarial work. The SCITE works in cooperation with many government-approved training centers.”
The SCITE presented a lecture series on Sunday aimed at outlining job and job-training opportunities available to women. The lectures, sponsored by Princess Al-Jowhara bint Faisal bin Turki and held at the Prince Salman Social Center in Riyadh, highlighted the Saudization and training efforts of the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Al-Saanud said everyone who works at the SCITE, which is funded wholly by donors, does it for free for the sake of helping as many Saudis as possible. Saudis with physical disabilities have also benefited from the institution’s charity services.
The SCITE is organizing programs that can help women prisoners and women at the Al-Amal Hospital for Rehabilitation. The program will offer these women another chance to have a better life.
