ISLAMABAD, 25 December 2005 — Federal Minister of Information Technology Awais Leghari blasted powerful Chaudhry cousins in a hard-hitting statement here yesterday.
Awais Leghari said, “Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and his cousin the chief minister of Punjab, suffer from insecurity”.
Awais, who is son of former Pakistani President Farooq Leghari, and a part of ruling Pakistan Muslim League (Quaid-e-Azam) registered his protest on the proposed Kalabagh Dam.
He said the Chaudhry cousins do not represent the policy of Punjab over many issues and Kalabagh is one of them.
Awais and his father Farooq Leghari had merged their Millat Party into the Pakistan Muslim League after 2003 general elections.
His party won four National Assembly seats and managed to get two ministries — one for Awais another for his niece Sumaira Malik.
Awais said, “a forward block is being formed within the Pakistan Muslim League with Riaz Pirzada as its leader with one point agenda — removal of Shujaat Hussain from the top job of the party to save the party from disintegration.”
