KARACHI, 1 January 2006 — The much-talked about Kalabagh Dam (KBD) project has been studied extensively by consultants, assisted by world-renowned experts, sedimentologists and experts of other disciplines from the United States and Europe, a WAPDA spokesman said. He said that the studies were carried out over a period of five years and each and every aspect of the dam was reviewed and all the work was documented.
Pointing to a section of the press carrying stories during the last few days creating an impression that Kalabagh Dam has a very short life span, the spokesman said that advancement in technology had made it possible to increase the lifespan of Kalabagh Dam to more than 100 years.
