KARACHI, 1 February 2006 — Sui Southern Gas Company has planned to provide gas to coastal villages of the city at a cost of 175 million rupees.
“We are ready to start the project soon,” said Sohail Akhtar, a project construction engineer. He said that the project was delayed due to estimate revisions. Work would start next month now.
These costal villages are located in Hawkesbay, including French Beach, Abdul Rehman Goth, Somar Goth, Arif Goth, Safar Goth, Haji Ahmed Goth, Ramzan Goth, Lashkari Goth, Wali Muhammad Goth, Mubarak Ismail Goth, Sanghoo Goth, Faqir Muhammad Goth, Moheeb Ali Goth, Haji Muhammad Ali Goth and Jorakh Goth.
Residents of these villages were using firewood for cooking and other purposes. Woman and children have to go to the nearby hills and forests to collect woods.
