ISLAMABAD, 14 February 2006 — Saudi authorities have asked Pakistani officials not to bury a mutilated body recovered from PIA’s PK-3356 Haj flight from Jeddah to Karachi.
Saudi authorities intend to hold an inquiry into the case as how a dead body was found from the landing gear’s trunk from the Haj flight.
Sources of Pakistan International Airlines said, “Complete scanning was done through the manifest of the flight but now other agencies were involved.”
Karachi police has taken the body in its custody and had placed it at the mortuary of the Eidhi Foundation.
Sources said that Jeddah airport security authority has communicated to concerned Pakistani authority that it intends to conduct complete inquiry into the matter in cooperation with them.
Sources said the body of a man, 25, was found with casual dress on.
It is expected the remains of this unknown person may be taken to Jeddah for necessary investigations before its burial.
