HYDERABAD, India, 20 February 2006 — Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi and two Majlis-e-Ittehaadul Muslimeen legislators surrendered to the police yesterday after a case was registered against them in connection with violent incidents in the Old City on Friday during a protest against Danish caricatures on the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Asaduddin, his younger brother Akbaruddin, who is the party’s floor leader in the assembly, and another party legislator, Syed Ahmed Pasha Quadri, surrendered before police Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Shandilya, hours after the case was registered against them.
