JEDDAH, 26 February 2006 — A company fired a Saudi who was barely able to make ends meet, Al-Madinah daily reported. He returned to the office a week later and made a legitimate offer to purchase the company for an undisclosed sum that reached into the millions of riyals. How did this happen? The man happened to own some land. Shortly after being fired an investor offered him SR25 million for the land. The newly unemployed Saudi eagerly accepted the offer. On his list of “Things to Do With a Windfall of Cash” was to save his pride by returning triumphantly to his former employer with an offer to buy the company.
