JEDDAH, 10 March 2006 — Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vice President Ziyad Al-Bassam and financial services executive manager at the Abdul Lateef Jamil Co., Abdul Muhsin Al-Fares, gave business-development loan checks to a group of Saudis — four women and seven men. With the loans, Saudis will be able to start their small commercial projects, including a clothing store for women, food services and gift shops.
Al-Bassam said that the chamber is proud to its cooperation with the ALJ in supporting small start-up businesses.
One of the loan recipients, Radeya Al-Shemasi, said that she was dreaming of opening Asian food restaurant but the project would never have materialized without the help of ALJ. The ALJ fund supported 215 projects until now and helped in creating more than 350 jobs for Saudis.
