MADINAH, 23 February 2007 — Quba Eleven and Airport Bin Ladin reached the final of the 1st MCA-Sadafco Cricket Cup by beating Sadafco and Sahiwal Eleven respectively.
The tournament is sponsored by Sadafco Company and organized by Madinah Cricket Association.
In the first semifinal, Sahiwal Eleven were bundled out for 156 runs while batting first. Safder 52 and Saleem 42 were the highest scorers. Jawed Allah Rakkah was the most successful bowler with three wickets. Hafiz Imtiaz and Wahab each dismissed two. Airport Bin Ladin reached the target losing one wicket in the process. A sparkling 56 from Jawed Allah Rakkha set the tone for Airport’s victory. He hit six successive boundaries. Shakeel 30 and Ilyas 12 helped well to achieve victory. Afzal succeeded in getting both key wickets.
In the second semifinal, Quba Eleven outplayed Sadafco by 30 runs. Habeeb, the skipper of Quba Eleven, played a captain’s knock hitting a magnificent 76 runs that included nine boundaries and one mighty six.
The other batsmen including Ikhlaq 52, Sohail 24 and Qaiser 38 helped Quba reached 270 runs.
Chasing the target, Sadafco could only manage 240 in their allotted 30 overs. Mehmood 33, Sajid 38 and Zahid Ali 26 were the main scorers. Tailender Fayyaz put some resistance hitting 22 runs that included one six, but it was a tad too late as Quba Eleven scented the victory. Zulfiqar of MCA Juniors officiated the match.
