JEDDAH, 1 March 2007 — In another first for Jeddah Cricket League it will organize a series of Under-12 age group cricket tournaments, beginning with the single wicket cricket Tournament, followed by the six-a-side tournament and then the third phase will be the league cum knock-out tournament to be held from March 9 and will continue for 20 weeks. All interested participants are requested to make the registration of the individuals, teams through the recognized schools, JCL registered clubs and the new private clubs can be done without any fee through fax to Mohammad Iqbal on fax. This series of U-12 tournaments is part of the youth development plan of JCL and to follow are the other age group tournaments of U-15, U-17 & U-19 on Thursdays, according to Shahid Amin, the CEO and president of CCCB and the un opposed president of Jeddah Cricket League since its inception in 1976.

Amin said JCL conducted the first interschool cricket tournaments under the different age groups such as U-15, U-17 & U-19 with the help and support of sponsorships from the leading English dailies Arab News and The Saudi Gazette on a regular basis in the past. The chief coordinator is Aijaz Ahmed Khan of the JCL and the members are Ahsan Rafeh, Syed Muzaffar Hussain, Azizullah Shariff, Syeed Ul Hasssan and Azaz Ashraf Toor. Amin said the sponsorship deal is still under negotiation.

All the matches will be played in the afternoon session Fridays, noticifications will be sent to all the institutions and the JCL registered clubs soon.

The age limit shall be over 9 years and below 12 by March 9. The age will be checked through legal documents at the time of registration. Tthe rules and regulations are entirely different from the normal cricketing rules which will be circulated at the time of registration of the individuals and the clubs.
