RIYADH, 1 May 2007 — Patrick Kennedy beat Mike Jones for the overall best net title via the countback on Friday in the Investcorp Monthly Medal golf tournament at Dirab Golf Club here.

Both golfers played off 13 handicap and matched cards of 66, seven under on the full grass championship course that has been reconfigured temporarily to a par 73.

When the countback was applied Kennedy emerged overall champion and Jones had to settle for the Second Division (10-18 handicap) crown. Second place in the division went to Filipino and 18 handicap Pedy Lualhati who signed for a 68 and third to Jessie Batchelor with a 69.

Veteran Korean golfer M.S. Kim won low gross honors with a one-under 72.

The Third Division for the 19-28 handicap category went to Nasir Chowdry who assembled a 67, two strokes ahead of second placer James Shin. Shin was tied on 69 with Kamran Khaled, who took third position on countback.

Hewan Abrahaley was the winner in the Ladies Division, shooting a 71. Flore B. came in second on 74 with Ganet Chaplow, a perennial winner whose handicap has gone down to 10, taking third spot on 75. Jeddah-based Khaled Attieh led the Junior Division winners, firing a three-under net score of 70. Lefty South African Michael Steyn was second with a 76, Abdul Rahman third with a 78 and Mansour Al-Mansour fourth with an 81. Fahad Al-Mansour and Khaled Salem won the prizes for longest drive and closest to pin respectively.

A full field of 76 players competed in the 18-hole stroke play competition organized by the Dirab Golf Club staff led by Manager Bouchaib El-Jadiani in cooperation with Dirab Golf Committee. Investcorp sponsored the tournament.
