JEDDAH, 22 May 2007 — Arab News Fantasy Cricket Championship Tournament was organized from March 10 to 26, on the sidelines of the World Cup held in the West Indies. This was the first time that the concept of fantasy sports was introduced in the Kingdom.
The competition received an overwhelming response from cricket lovers. Five winners of the tournament were given prizes by Arab News Editor in Chief Khaled Almaeena and National and Gulf Editor Mahmoud Ahmad on Thursday (May 10).
The first prize, sponsored by Samsung, was presented to Nerian Austin Pinto by Almaeena, Inamullah Butt, marketing manager of Samsung, and Suhaib Al Wazir, senior account manager MEMAC Ogilvy.
The other four winners were: Hamadullah Abdul Ghafoor Shaikh, Syed Raziuddin, Abdullah Rafiuddin Farooqui, and Mohammad Nazeeruddin. (AN photos by Adnan Mahdali and Salman Marzouki)
