JEDDAH, 17 June 2007 — A glittering prize distribution function was held in a fitting climax to the Pehla Premier Gold Cup, sponsored and supported by the Pehla Premium Asian Entertainment Television, at the new JCL complex north of Obhur.

Chief guest Tariq Al-Maeena, Arab New columnist and founding member of the Jeddah Cricket League, displayed his touch hitting straight drives and middling the ball like any other cricketer after he arrived for the function.

Alwyn Rodrigues, senior regional manager Marketing & Business Development Arab Digital Distribution, in his message said “Our association with JCL is to encourage the local talents in the Gulf region and we hope to do similar tieups in the future too to motivate the young generation’s development of skills for the game of cricket.”

Danish A. Ghafoor, senior general manager of Drive Direct Marketing, the advertising agency that played a key role in making this event success, was unable to attend the prize distribution due to his prior commitments. He said, “once again I would place it on record that it has been a wonderful experience to have been part of the JCL Pehla Event.” He thanked the JCL Executive Committee and the volunteers, particularly he thanked the print media Arab News, Saudi Gazette, Urdu News & Urdu Magazine for their extensive coverage of the event. Majeed Ul-Hassan was the master of ceremony. The function started with the recitation of Holy Quran. In his welcome speech Majeed praised his team of executive committee members, volunteers, sponsors Pehla & the Drive Direct Marketing’s Danish A.Ghafoor for the support that helped make this this event a success.

In addition to Al-Maeena, other VIPs in attendance were JCL President Shahid Amin, Executive Secretary Muhammad Iqbal, Afsar Faheem and Aijaz Ahmed Khan. The chief guest praised JCL committee for organizing such a great event in a great style and he mentioned that this organization to whom he is associated from its inception is doing a wonderful job in promoting cricket in Saudi Arabia. He congratulated the winners and runners-up and advised them to maintain the sportsman spirit.
