MAKKAH, 18 June 2007 — Wehda are close to signing Egyptian defender Shadi Mohammed for the upcoming season.
Sources said that Shadi, who currently plays for Egypt and African club champions Al-Ahli, has agreed to the Makkah’s stallions offer. Negotiations, said sources, have been going on for nearly a month. Upon a recommendation by the club’s former German coach Theo Bucker, Hatem Kheiami, Wehda’s assistant coach opened negations with the Egyptian defender upon his arrival to the holy city for Umrah.
Wehda club president is currently in Cairo to try and seal the deal on the transfer of Shadi with Al-Ahli club officials.
Sources said that Wael Jumah would be the second pick for Al-Wehda if negotiations with Shadi fall through.
