JEDDAH, 20 June 2007 — The summer basketball season kicks off at Gold’s Gym with their second annual three-on-three tournament today.

Organizer Captain Assad, former captain of Al-Ahli and the Saudi national basketball team, put together a one-week tournament to crown the toughest team in Jeddah.

The event will include games and prizes for the spectators and a special game featuring players from Ittihad and Al-Ahli. The event plans to surpass last year’s collection of 20 teams battling for the championship. The Saudi national team captain and star at Ittihad Ali Mugraby will be the chief referee.

The three-point shootout and slam-dunk contest are expected to thrill the fans. Prizes of three months free membership at Gold’s Gym along with medals and trophies are up grabs in the tournament which is also supported by Subway sandwiches.

Gold’s Gym is located on Batterjee Street next to Saudi German Hospital. Admission is free. The games start after Isha prayer.
