JEDDAH: Syed Mohammad Afroz scored an impressive 121 runs and his 151-run second-wicket partnership with Imran, who made 42, was the high-light in Tamer’s 60 runs win over Shalimar in a fourth round match of the Division One Cricket League, organized by the Jeddah Cricket Association.

Batting first Tamer scored 231 for 8 off 18 overs. Afroz continued his form with the bat as he whacked the bowlers to different parts of the field. His innings included 15 hits to the boundaries and clearing it on seven occassions.

The other batsmen who contributed were, Anwar Ahmed Khan (19), Amjad (17) and Asghar (16 n.o.). Nabeel Hussain took three wickets.

In reply the Shalimar made 171 for 5 with Rana Shahzad putting up a fight scoring and unbeaten 78 runs. Nabeel (24) and Osama (21) gave some hope but their efforts were not good enough to reach their target. Imran took 2 for 35.

In the first match of the day, Rawi batting first were bundled out for 74. Mustafa and Omar took 2 wickets each.

In reply the Saad Group reached the target 75 for the loss of one wicket and won the match by 9 wickets. Openers Sajjad and Mustafa scored 36 runs respectively.

In the third match of the day, Pure Foods-XI lost to Old Students by 9 wickets. Pure Foods-XI batting first made 145 for 9 wickets in 18 overs.

Tabish (24 n.o.), Yasir (13 n. o.), Imran (18), Sajjad Butt (18) contributed for the Pure Foods. Umair claimed 3 for 27.

The Old Students openers Zeeshan (24) and Rizwan (57 n.o) laid the foundation while later Hamid (45 n.o.) carried on the good work to reach the target for the loss of one wicket.

In the fourth match at ground No.2, Natco Saudi Arabia batting first made 155 for 5 in 18 overs against Zinda Tilismat.

Athar Ali made (37), Fahad (24), Atta Ur Rehman (25) and Imran (18) did their best for Natco. Asjad took 2 for 37.

In reply the Zinda Tilismat were bowled out for 131 in 17 overs and lost the match by 24 runs.

Zahid (29), Ghulam (24) and Jawad (21) were the top run getters. Humayun with his slow off spinners had impressive figures of 4 for 21 while left arm spinner Ashiq took 3 for 23.

In the last match of the day, Pak Ahmadabad-XI batting first scored 204 for 6 in the allotted overs against Hyderabad Green-XI.

Abdul Rauf scored 78 with most of his runs coming in singles and twos. Ashraf Shah also delighted with the bat as he hit 47. Zahid remained not out with 18. Shaban and Zaheer took 2 wickets each for Hyderabad Green.

Hyderabad Green reached their target by losing only one wicket. Opener Ali scored an unbeaten 123 runs blasting the Pak Ahmadabad-XI bowlers to all corners of the ground. Ashfaque remained unbeaten on 24. Hyderabad Green won the match by 9 wickets.
